New products and new faces will be making an appearance as Welsh organic companies head for London’s Olympia and the Natural & Organic Products Europe trade show (April 5-6).
It is the UK’s only dedicated trade event for the natural products, health food and organic industries, and four organic producers will be exhibiting on the Welsh Assembly Government’s True Taste stand.
Welsh Farm Organics will have a full range of beef, lamb and pork as well as its popular Montgomeryshire air dried ham.
It has been a busy year for the True Taste award-winning company which recently took-over another well-known Mid Wales organic producer, Graig Farm.
Therefore in addition to its own brands Welsh Farm Organics will be showing a range of gluten-free sausages and burgers under the Graig Farm label, and which are available at a variety of shops and restaurants.
Making its Natural & Organic Products Europe show debut is Hafod Cheese - a traditional unpasteurised organic cheddar.
It is produced by Sam and Rachel Holden on their family farm in West Wales which has been managed by Sam's father, Patrick Holden - Director of the Soil Association - for 35 years.
The couple started making cheese in September 2007, and the on-farm dairy was officially opened by HRH Prince of Wales.
Already an award-winner Hafod is very similar to traditional cheddar and has a distinctive rich and buttery flavour. It is handmade using unpasteurised organic milk from the farm’s 65 Ayrshire cows.
Pembrokeshire based Trioni Ltd produces and sells fresh organic Welsh milk.
The company also produces the award-winning Daioni range of branded flavoured Welsh organic milk drinks in strawberry, chocolate and banana.
The drinks are low in sugar and fat and contain no artificial flavourings or colours and are packaged in handy 250ml and 125ml cartons.
They have recently developed a new product - 1 Litre UHT Organic semi-skimmed milk. Trioni also produces cereal portions of milk which are excellent for airlines and trains.
Daioni is available throughout Wales in multiple and independent retail outlets. Daioni also counts Chelsea Football Academy and the Welsh Rugby Union among its fans.
Following on from its successful collaboration with the makers of the Wallace and Gromit film ‘A Matter of Loaf and Death’, Bacheldre Watermill will be showing its latest link with Aardman Animations.
Four Wallace and Gromit branded baking kits will be on show prior to their launch in May: Gromit’s Italian Pizza kit, Wallace’s Spelt & Oat Cookie kit, Wallace’s Double Swiss Chocolate Muffin kit, and Gromit’s Golden Bread kit.
The kits contain Bacheldre’s new organic yeast and baking powder, which are also available separately.
Also on display will be the company’s award-winning traditional flours and Wallace and Gromit flours with recipes.
Also exhibiting on the True Taste stand will be the Organic Centre Wales. The Centre, which is supported by the Welsh Assembly Government, will feature information on the development of the sector in Wales as well as promotional material for a number of other organic companies.
