Abergavenny heralds launch
Abergavenny heralds the launch of the Wales the True Taste Food & Drink Awards. The search for culinary excellence is on with the launch in Abergavenny today (May 1st) of the Wales the True Taste Food & Drink Awards 2009/10.
The Welsh Assembly Government managed awards are regarded as the ‘Oscars’ of the Welsh food and drink industry, and this year’s awards feature a number of new and exciting developments including, a new Export Achievement Category, and Truetaste.tv - a website and webchannel dedicated to the awards.
Past winners, stakeholders and organisations connected with the annual True Taste Awards gathered at the town’s Tithe Barn Foodhall for the first of a series of regional launches across Wales.
Monmouthshire is inaugural winner of the True Taste Food Tourism Destination award and Abergavenny is playing a major role in this year’s competition as the Awards ceremony will be held at its historic Market Hall on November 19th.
At the event guests viewed the new website and webchannel - which is now live - and is packed with information about this year’s and previous awards.
Via the webchannel they heard interviews with Rural Affairs Minister Elin Jones and A-list Welsh chef Bryn Williams who has been signed by the Welsh Assembly Government as the ‘face’ of the awards.
